WHAT ARE VOCs?
VOCs
are volatile organic compounds that vaporize at room temperature and
react with nitrous oxides in the atmosphere to form smog. Government
rules about volatile organic compounds (VOCs) grew out of the Clean Air
Movement in Southern California, and deal only with ingredients of a
product. Whether ingredients are toxic is not considered when drafting,
implementing, and enforcing regulations limiting VOCs.
In
order to achieve their claims of “ZERO VOCs,” some manufacturers
take out certain solvents and substitute them with toxic chemicals that
are not covered by the VOC regulations.#149R
and #179R are formulated from 100% bio-based ingredients and do not
contain volatile organic compounds.#149R
and#179R do not
contain harmful acids, acetone, butyls, Isobutane, isoparaffinic
hydrocarbons, halogenated hydrocarbon glycol ethers, hydrocarbons,
ketones, methylene chloride, perchloroethylene, methyl ethyl ketone, or
any other hazardous chemical or solvent compound.
